Jac's Story
I’m Jac Winters, a retired trucker-turned-author from Green Bay, Wisconsin, with deep roots in Canada, where I was born. A "Rogue Poet," style of writing captures my free-spirited, road-worn approach to life and words.
I’ve traded the rumble of eighteen-wheelers for the rhythm of poetry and prose, crafting stories and verses that echo the highways, heartaches, and hard-won wisdom
of a life lived full throttle.
My journey
Born in Canada, I carry the rugged beauty of its landscapes in my soul, but Green Bay is home—a place where family, community, and the grit of the Midwest shape who I am.
As a Gen X kid, I grew up with the crackle of vinyl records, the hum of dive-bar jukeboxes, and the open road as my classroom. Trucking was my first love, hauling freight across North America, from blizzards to sun-soaked highways.
Those years taught me resilience, the value of a good story, and the power of building meaningful relationships, or helping stranger's when they least expect it.
Writing came later, sparked by memories of my childhood that stirred my imagination. Those early days, both beautiful and painful, fueled my need to put pen to paper.
I’m a dad, a husband, and a dreamer, driven by a mission to lift those around me—especially women in my community—and to leave a legacy through the Jac Winters Foundation, a future endeavor to support others in finding their voice.
My Writing
My work is a blend of poetry, short stories, and memoirs, rooted in the raw, unfiltered truths of life. I write about the block I grew up on, the open road, and the shadows of the past, like the haunting narrative of To Say Goodbye Again, a story that confronts sensitive truths with care and courage.
My poetry, like The Filth of Your Making, channels anger, vengeance, and resilience, often paired with stark imagery—a poisoned tree in a storm or headlights slashing a dark road.
I’m drawn to themes of inner strength, nostalgia, and empowerment, crafting words that hit like a fist and linger like a melody. They say my style is gritty yet soulful, with a retro edge that nods to the ’70s and ’80s.
I mix the cadence of a trucker’s yarn with the lyricism of a poet,
unafraid to dive into the mess of human emotion.
My genres span literary fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, often weaving in the cultural tapestry of my Canadian heritage and Green Bay’s working-class heart. Whether it’s a nostalgic ode to old-school truckers or a motivational quote about solving problems, my words aim to spark connection and inspire action.
Why I Write
I write to make sense of the world—to heal, to honor, and to amplify the voices that need hearing.
My stories and poems are for the misfits, the dreamers, the ones who’ve faced the dark and kept going.
Through my work, I hope to build bridges, spark conversations, and maybe even help someone find their own path to healing, just as writing has done for me. My presence on X is about elevating this craft, sharing my journey, and building a community that values authenticity over pretense.
The Road Ahead
To Say Goodbye Again now in the hands of all of you and with my publishers working on new projects, I’m pouring my heart into creating work that’s bold, real, and unforgettable.
My website is a space to share that journey—think rugged typography, midnight blue and serene waters, and imagery of highways, forests, and vinyl records spinning.
My X presence is where I post about the why behind my writing:
to uplift, to empower, and to prove
I’m as real as the dirt under my boots.
So, grab a coffee, pull up a chair, and dive into my world. Whether you’re here for a poem that cuts deep, a story that feels like home, or a glimpse into the life of a Rogue Poet,
I’m glad you’re along for the ride.
From my life to yours,
Jac
